The mild and sunny weather phase will come to an end this weekend. According to forecasts from Geosphere, a weak disturbance will bring rain and lower snow lines. While temperatures on Friday and Saturday may still reach up to 19°C, they will drop to a maximum of 14°C at the start of next week.
Friday: Still Mostly Sunny
On Friday, sunshine will dominate thanks to a weak high‑pressure influence and a southwesterly airflow at higher altitudes. Winds will mainly come from the south and may pick up in föhn‑affected valleys, along the eastern edge of the Alps, and in the eastern lowlands. Morning temperatures will range from –2°C to +6°C, with highs between 14°C and 19°C.
Saturday: First Signs of Change
On Saturday, a weak weather system will reach western and southwestern Austria. Thick clouds, rain, and showers will shape the weather south of the main Alpine ridge. By evening, the snow line in Vorarlberg will drop below 1,000 meters. East of the Tauern, it will remain sunnier with mostly high, thin clouds, and the far east will stay dry at first. Winds will blow moderately, and in the east briskly, from southern directions. Temperatures will range from –2°C to +6°C in the morning and 13°C to 19°C during the day.
Sunday: Increasingly Wet
On Sunday, the sun will still shine at first in the east and southeast, while rain will already be falling from Vorarlberg to Salzburg and in East Tyrol. The snow line will drop to around 1,400 meters. As the day progresses, remaining gaps in the clouds will close in the eastern lowlands and southeastern Styria, and the likelihood of showers will increase, especially in the southeast by evening. Winds will be light to moderate from the west. Morning temperatures will be between –1°C and +6°C, with daytime highs from 7°C to 17°C.
Start of the Week: Clouds and Rain
A cold front will bring dense clouds and widespread rain at the beginning of the week. Moving in from the northwest, it will shift precipitation toward the south and southeast throughout the day. In the northern Alpine regions, rain will persist until evening, with the snow line between 1,000 and 1,300 meters. Sunshine will be rare. Winds from the west to northwest will blow moderately to briskly from Upper Austria eastward. Morning temperatures will range from 0°C to 8°C, with daytime highs between 8°C and 14°C.
Tuesday: Mixed Weather
On Tuesday, another disturbance will bring a mix of sunny intervals and many dense clouds. Showers are possible by evening, with the snow line between 1,000 and 1,500 meters. Most showers will occur east of the Salzburg–Klagenfurt line. Winds from the north will be moderate at times in the eastern half of the country and in föhn‑affected southern areas. Morning temperatures will range from –3°C to +4°C, with highs between 8°C and 14°C.
